Import activity has
so far been comparative advantage of Machinoimport (both of the
former Machinoimport and the new one). Such activity consists of
direct import and import under authorization of other domestic
companies. Machinoimport tends to import all commodities not banned
by the Government to satisfy the diversified demand of the economy.
Machinoimport used
to be the unique import coorporation supplying all domestic customers
with machinery and equipment during the period from 1956 to
1986, and
still remains a reliable trading partner in this field.
The total import
value has increasingly risen annually. For example, it is up from
US$ 8.384 million in 2001, to US$ 20.346
million in 2004, and to US$
24.227 million
in 2005. The index of the annual import value is mapped out in
Figure below.
Import market
Apart from doing
business with the traditional markets like Russia, Czech Republic,
Belarus and former Socialist countries, our import activity has been
extended to many new markets. Examples are Asian countries like
Japan, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, China; Western European
countries like U.K, Germany, United States and so on.
